Here's some useful tips that I learned during my time studying abroad. Hope they help!
Top 10 tips:
1. Make sure you have a credit or debit card that does not have international fees. It helped me to save over 200$ that my friend had to pay in extra fees.
2. Ideally have a phone that is not locked so that you can use the local service providers. It will be a lot cheaper than getting an international plan with a US phone plan.
3. Pack more socks and underwear than your other outfits
4. When exchanging money in the country, go to the banks. They will usually have the best rates.
5. Try to learn the language and use it
6. Make a plan of the things that you are most excited to see while you are there
7. Be open to new experiences and new foods!
8. Try a new restaurant to eat at regularly
9. Try not to have high expectations for things, be open and go with the flow
10. Don’t be afraid of having solo adventures
